Steno Diabetes Center

Established by Novo Nordisk A/S in 1932, Steno Diabetes Center is a world-leading institution in diabetes care and prevention, located in Denmark. This specialised hospital provides diabetes education, treatment, prevention and research. Through their partnership with the healthcare system of Denmark, they educate advice and support people with diabetes, providing care that is in addition to regular treatments.

Based on many years of experience in organizing training courses & postgraduate training, Steno Diabetes Center has launched a concept in India within the framework of a training initiative called “STAR” (Steno Training and Application of Resources). Through a grant from the Novo Nordisk Foundation, the overall objective of the STAR Project is to increase the knowledge of diabetes.

As the implementing institution, Steno Diabetes Center will carry out the training courses in close collaboration with Novo Nordisk partners in selected countries as an integral part of already existing training initiatives and with inclusion of local specialists. The STAR courses aim is to disseminate up-to-date knowledge about optimal care of diabetes patients. Through participation of leading and dedicated diabetes specialists and health providers, they hope to achieve greater awareness on the problem of diabetes, its prevention and cure, eventually leading to increased understanding, better management among HCPs. Additionally to have higher focus, better prioritization and funding from national health authorities on Diabetes management.
